creative touches with autumn decor

When I start redecorating for a new season, I'm rarely done the first time around.

I keep moving things around and trying new arrangements
until, like Baby Bear, it feels "just right" to me.

I hung this leaf picture next to the mirror using the 3M sticky strips.
They don't pull the paint off the wall when you remove them,
and it sure beats putting nail holes in the wall.

I also put a bell cloche with a copper leaf (found at Goodwill!) at the end
of the console table.

As for this area of the living room, I added a gold runner to the buffet,
placed candles on one end (another Goodwill find is the tall, wooden candle holder),
tiered bowls in the middle, and birch candles on the sconces.

I took the turquoise pillows off the couch and added a
horizontal gold pillow.

I kept the kitchen table centerpiece simple, but warm...

And, lastly ~ I took the ironstone pitchers and autumn pitcher out of
the china cabinet and put them on top of the stove.

Are you all done with your fall decorating,
or are you still "playing", like me?

  1. Yes, I'm definitely done. Because I didn't do any! No one seems my house in the fall, so I only do the outside. I decorated my porch, and that's about it. But yours looks lovely!

  2. You are so creative, Melanie! I love everything! Thanks for the tip on the sticky strips, I have so many holes in my walls, it's not funny. I really love your cloche, too.

I'm really not a tweaker. I try to get things right the first time and then really don't pay any attention to it. Am I weird?

Have a great day! I got my mums today and hope to get a post in tomorrow.

    XO,
    Jane

  4. All your Fall touches are very nice. Clean and clutter free and cozy. No decorating going on around here. Although in my cleaning spree last Saturday that lasted 9 hours -- I did move lots of wall art around (I won't tell what is hiding behind those pictures -- think I need some spackle :) Have a great day! 5. I too like to tweak my decorations Melanie. I am now going to add some Halloween touches to things this week. I just have them out for a while and then go back to autumn until Thanksgiving. Your candles all around are so pretty...they always add just the right glow.

  6. I'm like that too. I keep looking and tweaking :)

All your autumn touches are lovely. I'm going to have to get a supply of those 3M products so I can stop making holes in everything!

  7. Hi Melanie, your home is lovely, I really like the little personal touches that you have added here and there to make it so cozy. The photo with your kitty all curled up on the sofa, proves how warm and comfy your home is. I found you through mutual followers, and I hope that we can become mutual followers, too. I am a wife, mother and grandma, from the pacific northwest, but I was born and raised in northern Indiana.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you and to following your creative journey through blogging, Connie :)
