on leaving ~ and creatures

I'm leaving in half hour with a couple of friends to travel three hours south to
a women's retreat. We'll be back Saturday night. Sounds good, right? In theory, yes.
But I suffer with anxiety and leaving my home to go out of town kicks my anxiety
into high gear. Why I said yes to this retreat was that one of my best friends from
Canada was actually driving all the way down to Illinois for this retreat and we
wanted to see each other. But she had a family emergency and now is not able
to come to the retreat. But I already committed to going, so that's that.

I know a lot of you are animal lovers like I am, so I thought I'd share some
recent pictures of my kitties before I leave.

Here's Zippo all snuggled up on a quilt next to the "love" pillow...

 And my sweet girl, Clementine...

And Clementine's baby...Monkey. He has such long front legs! Good thing he's
so cute and sweet because he's quite naughty.

A turtle?! This creature was in the road, crawling towards my neighbor's house
across the street yesterday. I'm glad he made it because I'm too scared of turtles
to pick it up and move it to the side of the road. Look at those claws!

I'll talk to you all again on Sunday! Have a beautiful weekend.

  1. That Monkey does have the longest legs I've ever seen on a cat. Know how he got his name! Enjoy your Retreat.

    1. That's actually not how Monkey got his name, but funny how it turned out to be so fitting. :-)

  2. You can easily pick up that kind of turtle by holding on to each side of his shell. (like if he had a waist) He won't hurt you. He'll just pull his head and feet in and try to hide from you. I had a turtle as a pet when I was a girl.
Zippo Clementine and Monkey are sooo adorable!! They have the prettiest markings.
I'm sorry your good friend isn't going to be able to go to the retreat with you. Hope you feel better by the time you get there. Hugs.

    1. I don't even want to touch a turtle shell...there's just something about it that freaks me out. Thanks for saying my cats are adorable. And I did indeed feel better by the time I got to the retreat.

  5. All of your kitties are precious but I've especially loved Monkey. Wow, his legs are long!!

I have twinges of anxiety in a lot of situations, but once you get going you'll be distracted and that always works for me. Have a great time and remember, it's a retreat, so sit back and relax!

    XO,
    Jane
