I bought a bulletin board at Hobby Lobby awhile ago and never hung it up
until now, as I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it.
I knew I wanted to make an inspiration board, but what to put on it?
Basically, an inspiration board is a collage of anything that "speaks" to you
or inspires you. It's anything you want it to be. You can use photos, fabric,
postcards, paint chips, lists, ticket stubs, a flower, drawings, recipes.
Whatever attracts you and draws you in.
In the end, I went through some photos, cards, and other little sentimental
mementos and decided to just start pinning them up, not really stopping to think
about it. Just go with it and see what evolves. There's pictures of my sons, one
of me and my hubby, a beautiful card from my husband, little mementos from
friends, a particular poem I like, and in the middle right ~ two photos of myself:
one when I was eight years old and a flower girl at my aunt's wedding, and the other
of my young (just turned 22) self as a bride.
I have this inspiration board hanging in my office (what used to be Phil's room)
which still doesn't have blinds or curtains! Have I ever mentioned we are very
pokey about completing room makeover projects?!

Have a beautiful and inspiring weekend!

Very nice-- cool shape to that board.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it, Diane.
DeleteGreat job on the mood board! Doesn't Hobby Lobby have incredible items for sale, I wish I owned the store and could just pick and choose daily :) Thanks for stopping by to visit me via Mockingbird Hill Cottage. I loved looking around your blog. Mary
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Mary!
DeleteYour board looks great, Melanie! I especially like the shape of it and the dark frame pops.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lynn.
DeleteThe board is darling with that curvy shape Melanie. IfIt makes you feel any better Joe andI have been peeling off wallpaper for two years now in our bedroom with no end insight. It has turned into a storage room and we sleep in the office and really do not care. That is pokey:} Olive
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the board, Olive. And now I don't feel so bad with the bedroom, lol.
DeleteThe room looks really lovely with your new inspiration board. They are fun to look at and change as time goes by.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
You know me, Brenda - I'll definitely be changing it! ;-)
DeleteOh gosh.... I am soooo pokey about room project completions too. I just seem to let so many other things get in the way.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear I'm not the only one, Diane!
DeleteJust lost my comment so if it reappears, I'm probably repeating myself. I love your board, the shape is really neat. I remember having a bulletin board (that's what we called them, remember?) as a teen and we used them for the same sort of thing. I like the family pictures and I recognize your chili cook off badge! It's nice that you have your own office and space to put it. And no one is pokier than me!
DeleteXO,
Jane
Tim has a bulletin board with all kinds of cool stuff on it as well! I probably should've pictured his, too.
DeleteYou did a great job, Melanie, of filling your inspiration board with very special people and memories!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Thank you, Mary Alice!
DeleteWell I like this board! How nice that they come with these pretty frames rather than just a plain old bulletin board!:)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debra - I like the shape of the frame, too - not as boring as a plain bulletin board!
DeleteLove the shape of it. I keep things I want to remember on a cork board made of wine corks. I don't drink wine but my MIL does. :)
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds really cool, Elaine - you should post a picture of it! I drink wine, so I do save wine corks. I just have them in a cylindrical vase; haven't done anything with them.
DeleteMelanie, it turned out beautifully! You were right to add those things that speak to you. Things that inspire you and/or bring a smile to your face. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining in this week, my friend.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa - there's so much you can do with this! Great place to pin creative ideas, too.
DeleteRight now my inspiration board is some chicken wire I hung to cover an ugly spot above my washing machine. I am using clothes pins to hang things on it.
ReplyDeleteI have to check out your Pinterest inspiration board.
Ooh, that sounds really cool and creative! You should do a post about it! :-)
DeleteWhat a fun idea to gather your favorite things and ideas...thanks for sharing your board - love the shape of it too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nancy - I appreciate you stopping by!
