keeping it real ~ pajama party day

When Claudia at Mockingbird Hill Cottage announced that on Monday, March 4th,
she was going to have a pajama party, I knew I was in.

Truth: When I'm at home all day, especially in the colder months, I'm in pajamas.
Pajamas come in all sorts of styles ~ cotton, flannel, silk, nightgown; or, if you're like me,
yoga pants and a t-shirt. Sexy? Not so much. Comfortable? Absolutely.
This is embarrassing, but we promised Claudia we would do it.
Show ourselves in our pajamas. Here goes....

I made Tim take a full-length picture and another of me in my usual blog position.
Yikes! Nothing like a reality shot when you see your fat roll.
Notice also, the fluffy blanket where the kitties sleep (where were they?) and the
well-used scratching post. Oh - and you can kind of see my new glasses in this
picture. They're a darker full-frame with a tint of blue and lighter brown on the sides.

My previous glasses were a light blue and silver half-frames. And I realized I'm wearing
my typical pajama outfit in this older photo too - another t-shirt and a hoodie. I usually
wear a hoodie over my t-shirts when I'm chilled. Which is most of the time.

I've just been in the kitchen cooking like a mad woman, so I'm not cold right now.
Otherwise, I'd have on a hoodie. I have my yoga class tonight, so I got an early
start on dinner. Smoky Chipotle Vegetarian chili. I also have beer bread baking
in the oven. Both recipes are from Eating Well With Others.

What do you wear on your days at home? Do you go out in public in your pajamas?
I'll go to the mailbox or work in my yard in my t-shirt and yoga pants, but I don't
run errands in this attire! If you're so inclined, join me, Claudia, and the others
at her PJ Party today!

  1. You already know that I will happily wear my pajamas all day! But, like you, I go for comfort, even when I'm fully dressed. By the way, as a vegetarian, your dinner looks awfully yummy!

Love your t-shirt - I can hear my friend, Jim, asking someone to say "Soft Kitty" for him right now. He'd get a kick out of that shirt! And I love your new frames - they're really lovely on you.

Thank you so much for joining in on my little party! Happy Pajama-wearing!

    1. Thanks for the compliments on the chili (I eat mostly vegetarian) and my glasses. Loved joining your pajama party today!

  2. Looks comfy! Don't we all have a dog or cat blanket on the couch??

    1. I'm sure a lot of us do, Diane! Helps keep the animal hair (somewhat) off the couch, right?

  3. That chili looks great and I like the new glasses. You know, I'm always cold too, so I usually have my Sanibel Island sweatshirt on over my nightgown. I don't know how my husband stands me, LOL!!

    1. Ha ha, thanks Judy! The chili was really good, though a bit too spicy. I'll cut down on the smoked chilies next time.

  5. Hi Melanie,

You are adorable! Love your glasses; they so suit you! Your chili looks absolutely scrumptious; perfect for the cold and dark days of winter. Looking forward to reading some of your previous posts as I've been 'en route', as you know!

    Have a great week!

    1. Oh Poppy, you are too kind. I've certainly never thought of myself as "adorable", lol. The chili was indeed delicious. Sure hit the spot when I got home from my yoga class. (Yes, I really do yoga!)

  6. Hi Melanie,

What's to be embarrassed about - you look great! So does that chili which I'm going to try in the near future. (I love soup!) I think it would be just the right thing to eat in one's jammies. :)

    Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Cassandra - I guess us women are our own worst critics. If you ever do try that chili recipe, cut back on the canned, smoked chilies in the recipe. She said to use 2 of them - I'd only use one. This chili was VERY spicy. I normally love spicy chili, but this was even too much for me. Thanks for visiting!

  7. I think comfort says more to me than style...
glad to see you're a woman of your word...and kept your promise to Claudia to join the party.
I'm chicken...so no post from me.
    But it has been fun!

    1. It was indeed fun...you should've joined in! Some women just showed pictures of their pj's on their bed - they didn't show themselves wearing them. :-)

  8. You look so cute! Now I would be happy in yoga pants all day, I wear sweats, leggings and sweat shirts a lot, even for simple errands. I sleep in cotton capri/T shirts...hot flashes you know! I'm glad you posted pics of yourself...now I will recognize you in the restaurant next week. Love the glasses and that chili looks delish!

    1. Believe me, I get hot when I'm sleeping too - night sweats are no fun! I take off the yoga pants when I go to bed. I just sleep in the t-shirt and my undies, lol. Hmm, what if I dye my hair black, straighten it, and wear contacts next week?! Just kidding. ;-) Still trying to get used to these new glasses...heck, glasses in general. I used to wear contacts all the time. But again, another yucky side effect of getting older - contacts are uncomfortable.

  9. Hi Melanie, Are you a Big Bang Theory Fan? Soft Kitty plays a big part in the show. I also have the picnic basket you showed in the last post . I have too many, can't stop. Glad you found that one before I did! ;-)

    1. The funny thing is, Penny - I'm not a Big Bang Theory fan! I just liked the t-shirt because I love cats. I never knew it had anything to do with Big Bang Theory when I got it, lol. That would've been funny if we were in Goodwill at the same time and we both "dove" for the picnic basket. You could pull on one handle, and I'd pull on the other. ;-)

  13. So glad that you posted pictures of yourself. There weren't many brave ones. It's all about comfort. It's almost noon and I am still in jammies. Snow storm on it's way and I have a migraine, gret excuse to stay in them all day, right.
I notice that your cat reappeared after the sofa shot, hah.
I like the new glasses as well.
Try putting cinnamon in your chili if it is too spicy. It might help.
Hope you have a great rest of the week.

    1. It's almost noon here and I'm still in my jammies, too! We are having a snow storm right now, but thank God I don't have a migraine. Sorry to hear you have one. Thanks for the idea of the cinnamon in the chili - I will try that. When I ate some last night, I put sour cream in it, which tapered down on the heat.

  14. Most of my PJ's are either cotton T-shirt knit, or they are T-shirts and yoga pants like yours. They are so comfortable. On my major house cleaning days I might be in them until noon :)
Have a comfy cozy day :)
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)
P.S. love the tee with the song from The Big Bang Theory .

  15. I am definitely a pajama girl. Used to just wear whatever I could find -- yoga pants and a t-shirt usually, but I splurged a couple of weeks ago and bought real pajamas. Boy are they expensive! I'm in them as soon as possible when I get home and try to stay in them on the weekends though that doesn't always work out. That chili looks really good! How fun that you are meeting Jane next week. Take care! Tammy

    1. I do have "real" pajamas, but my yoga pants and t-shirts are more comfortable. The chili was really good, but Tim wouldn't even try it! He doesn't like beans. I can't wait to meet Jane next week - and I'm going to meet another blogger - Penny from At Home in English Valley, another day next week, too!

  16. Let's see ... I'm sitting on the couch. With my laptop. And lunch. Wearing yoga pants, Ugg boots, t-shirt with a fleece hoody. Yup, that's my typical uniform. And now I'm horrified that it's considered pj's -- because that's how I walk my daughter to school each day!

Looking forward to meeting you at next weekend's Midwest Meet-up!

    1. Don't be horrified. I just call my t-shirts and yoga pants, pajamas because I sleep in mine, too. Technically, they're clothes. Can't wait to meet you, too! We'll have so much fun.

  18. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sits in my pajamas. I usually do change mid morning into something more fit to take the dog out, but I love to wear pj's or warm-up pants all day when I can!
