Tim flew in last week for a short visit. It was so good to see him again! He moved to California right after Thanksgiving last year. I've really missed my boy.
I know technically it's still winter, but once March rolls around, I think spring. We've even had a few nice days already too, with temperatures in the 50's and lots of sunshine. We have daffodils and chives poking out of the ground, and I saw a few robins a couple of weeks ago! I think that's the earliest I've ever seen them. They say we're going to have a warmer-than-usual March, so maybe that's why.
I've been taking down some heavier looking decor and adding lighter colors and textures.
I always have a hard time with decorating the mantel. I'm not totally satisfied with this look, so it might change again. Half the fun is in the puttering process.
Sunshine streaming into my home makes me happy!
What does the beginning of March look like where you live?
How nice to have Tim home for a while! My oldest is going to be in town this weekend for a short trip, and I'm so excited to see that boy. March came in like a lion for us, with several inches of snow. But, it soon calmed down and we are anticipating beautiful weather for the remainder of the week. I really like the print on the mantle. Is there a story behind it?
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have your son visit! Spring here in NC has been mostly rain so far.
ReplyDeleteMy older daughter was home a couple of weeks ago, too - it was wonderful to see her! I adore that blue glass vase with the twigs....I'm a sucker for colored glass!!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking pretty nice here. Daffodils are up but not blooming. I'm so glad you got to visit with your boy!

We are having a beautiful March so far too here in North Idaho. We've even reached 50 a couple of times. The sun has been shining a lot and the only snow remaining is in the higher elevations, in perpetual shady spots or where they plowed it into mounds in all the parking lots. Spring time definitely calls for lighter decor around the house. I think you mantle looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet you were able to have a visit with your son! My son is still only 10 but I know all too soon he is going to be spreading his wings and flying away. I'm doing my best to treasure all of these childhood moments I still have with him.
Love,
Annie
My March is looking like your lol! I am loving this nice weather and sunshine. Hope it continues. The only bad part is the mud in the backyard and Buddy's paws. I am feeling so much better now that March has arrived and it is so nice. I hate winter. So this is all good. The pic of the three of you is so cute. Have fun next week .
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
March is rolling in like a lamb and we aren't going to focus on each week. Just taking one week at a time. Enjoying the sun, the higher temps, the fact that Sunday is Daylight Savings.
ReplyDeleteSending you hugs! THIS IS THE MONTH YOU GET TO GO TO CALI!!
It's perfect weather here but we are expecting to get up into the 80s very soon and that means the heat will just increase day by day. Not looking forward to that. Nice that you were able to see your boy. I sure hope the coronavirus craziness is over pretty soon. I haven't seen Zack since he was here in Dec/Jan 2017 and I really, really miss him.
ReplyDeleteThe first days of March were lovely, but cold days are here and we are expecting rain. I'm afraid now hat it will rain while you are here.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a beautiful family. Glad you are decorating for Spring, your home is warm and inviting. Today is a bit chilly but I am going to rake up Oak tree leaves before they kill my grass. We lose the leaves and they grow new ones all at the same time in Florida. We don't have leaves that drop in the Fall. It all happens at the same time as the pollen is thick enough to write on, sounds like a good time doesn't it? Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteMarch came in like a lion around here, but yesterday the temps shot up into the 60's and they are sticking there today. It makes me want to lighted up the house.
ReplyDeleteI know that short time with Tim home was sweet and by now you're seeing him in his new town. I'm afraid you're going to want to stay there, at least until summer comes to your town.
ReplyDeleteI love your puttering results--my favorite thing to do too. How I envy you your mantel! For the first time since I was very small I don't have one. It's hard to be a blogger without a mantel. I love your little birds on the mantel as I have a thing about birds, both outdoor and indoor. I got my very early birthday gift last month, a 1950s large silk embroidered chinoserie framed picture of 3 birds. We hung it across from my bed so that I can see it last thing at night and first thing in the morning and I love it so much. March here? After starting off last week with the devastating tornado, the rest of the week was beautiful sunny weather, bringing on bulbs blooming. Today is dreary and chilly but after today we also will have a week of solid rain that will hamper all the clearing, repair, and construction work in Nashville and surrounding counties. Out of 50,000 people left without power, only about 6,000 are still in the dark. Of course so many people won't be able to even go back to their homes or apartments for a very long time. I'm hoping April will be better for them than March has been.
You have a wonderful time visiting Tim!
