I love color. Lots of colors...blue, red, green, purple, yellow, pink.
But I think if I had to pick a favorite, it would be blue. And if it's the shade of blue
like the ocean and sky, so much the better.
My living room is done in neutrals but has touches of bright blue...
turquoise, aqua. I recently painted the round mirror in the window
frame a beautiful blue.
I have other touches of blue in the living room ~ plates, candle holders,
lamps, and vases...
...pillows and plant holders.
Perhaps my love of turquoise and aqua started when I painted this wicker
chair a few years ago. At first I thought it was "too much". Now I love it.
I found the blue throw last year at HomeGoods. I think it adds the perfect
color and balance to the all the neutral going on in the couch, walls, rug,
ottomans, and pictures above the couch.
" Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often
associated with depth and stability.
It symbolizes trust, loyalty,
wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.
Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body."
What is your favorite color? Do you show it in your home decor?

Your house is so pretty. You really have an eye for color and style. It all looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jennifer!
DeleteMy favorite color is red. I have accents of red throughout the house. I used to like blue too, but I had so much blue and so did my mom and mother-in-law, and sister in- law...that I got a bit tired of it. Now I have that country blue mixed with white and red. So, I guess my house is in patriotic red, white and blue.....although I didn't plan it that way.
ReplyDeleteI love red, too!
DeleteMelanie, Your house is so warm and inviting. It always looks so clean. I want to come and live with you. My favorite color is green and I have lots of it here and there. I have a lot of earth tones in my accessories but I want to get some color going around here....since that seems to be what people are doing now. I wonder what accent color would go with my sage green living room furniture?
ReplyDeleteDebbi
Mediterranean colors look great with sage green...think brick or terra cotta. Also, small accents of a delicate yellow would look great with those two colors, too.
DeleteDebbie, Melanie's house is clean. I am her mom and I can't figure out how that happened. <3
DeleteI keep changing my favorite color - LOL! I love your blues! The different shades of blue all just blend together. Really looks coo; and comfy!
ReplyDeleteJudy
Thank you, Judy!
DeleteI like blue, but have very little in my home décor, no idea why though! Your room looks lovely with all the touches of blue here and there, it is soft and gentle, but brings it all together! xx
ReplyDeleteHmm, you may have to incorporate more of one of your favorite colors into your decor and see if it makes you smile!
DeleteLove your touches of blue. I don't know if I have a favorite. I love the duck egg blue (ASCP) color and the deep pink. I have a lot of neutral but also lots of color.
ReplyDeleteOne good thing about having neutral furniture is that we can change our favorite colors at any time, right?
DeleteMy favorite color is blue and I have touches of all through my house. I love how you decorated your room with all the pretty different shades of blues. I am in love with the wicker chair.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Julie! That was a Goodwill find a few years ago. It was brown and I simply spray-painted it.
DeleteHi Melanie, I love the chair that you painted. Blue is one of our favorite colors, too and I am going to be using quite a bit of it in our new (old) cottage bungalow. It's a very calming color and in this busy world we can all use a clam space :) We love being around water, swimming, sailing, fishing, or just gazing and since blue is a water color we love it. Another reason for decorating our new space with lots of blues, is because I already have them, from this house, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
Connie :)
It'll be so exciting to see what you do with your new place, Connie!
DeleteI love red, blue and yellow equally.
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking all ready for the sun to burst in and take over. I bet you can't wait for full spring weather.
You got it! We've only had a few "teaser" days here and there. It's cold and stormy again.
DeleteHi Melanie, I love all your bright blues. The window with round blue mirror is adorable. I thank you for reading my entire series. I know that took quite a long time. It was heart wrenching for me to write and just had to stop. Have a great Sunday my friend, olive
ReplyDeleteGlad you like all the bright blue, Olive. I loved reading your stories - it honestly didn't take a long time. Sometimes it helps to write about the things that have happened in our lives.
DeleteI'm LOVING your splashes of blue in your living room! That wicker chair is fabulous. Blue has always been my favorite and go to color. I never get tired of it!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Thank you, Mary Alice!
DeleteOh you are so ready for Spring, you always do such a beautiful job of decorating and adding just the right amount of color!
ReplyDeleteJemma
Thanks so much, Jemma!
DeleteBlue is a beautiful color and love seeing it sprinkled around your home. That blue chair is fabulous - love that punch of bold color!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Manuela - glad you like it!
DeleteLove your painted bunny and your Easter decorations!!
ReplyDeleteLove, Mom
Your blue touches look great in the neutral setting. That's what I love about neutrals. If you get tired of a color it's a simple matter of changing out a few accessories. Thank you for sharing at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Have a great week! ~Deborah
