wonderful, low-key easter celebration

What a wonderful weekend...Tim came home, Brian was actually off work (a rarity -
his job is not a Monday-Friday one), and the temperature was in the 70's!
My first flowers of spring made their debut.

Tim took Zippo outside to munch on some grass. Zippo loves to go outside,
but we don't purposely let him out to roam the neighborhood. So this was
a compromise. Zippo got his fresh air and sunshine, but he didn't get to wander.

Easter dinner was just the three of us, and my mom and cousin.
I don't have a separate dining room, so the five of us squeezed around the
little kitchen table, which worked out fine. I set up all the food ~ ham, salad,
marinated asparagus, corn casserole, potato salad, fruit salad, homemade
cookies, and two pies buffet style on my countertops. I also put out a pitcher
of lemon water, a pitcher of iced green tea, and a couple of bottles of wine ~
along with the appropriate glasses, so people could just serve themselves.
This photo cracks me up...I noticed Tim was the only one with food on his plate.
He was so hungry, he dove in before I officially called that "dinner was served"!

After dinner, we all sat out on the patio in the sunshine, relaxing and talking
and just enjoying each other's company.

Oops, how could I forget our furry guest, Miss LuLu? This is my mom's
adorable, sweet little dog. She and my cats get along just fine. They probably
think she's one of them since she's so tiny.

For those of you who celebrate Easter, I hope you enjoyed the holiday
with loved ones.  Happy Monday, everyone!

  1. I loved reading about your Easter.Sounds like a delicious meal and unlike remembered to take pictures. I had only one to post today.
What kind of a dog is Lulu?

  2. Looks and sounds like you and your family had a wonderful day!

  3. Hi Melanie,

Looks and sounds just wonderful, warm and cozy, with family and good food!

    Have a lovely week!

  4. Sounds like your Easter went well. This beautiful weather is sure nice after the long winter.

  5. It seems like it was a nice Easter. I had a quite one with my parents... as is the tradition for a while, but we always spend a good time together.

  6. Sweet photos, I enjoyed them.
We had a cozy group of 19.

  7. Lulu is so darn cute I had to laugh...she almost looks like a perfect little stuffed toy in this picture! :)

  8. It looks like you had a wonderful day, Melanie. Your dinner sounds delicious. Lulu doesn't look like a real dog, I thought she was a stuffed animal at first. :)

  9. Looks like a lovely Easter day! Lulu is adorable :) I love Poms--they always look so happy.

I'm sure Zippo loved the grass. I used to take grass cuttings for my indoor cats. They could smell the grass as soon as I came back inside. It was hard for them to be patient ;)

  10. Looks like you had a wonderful Easter gathering. Your menu sounds perfect!

  11. I'm so glad you had beautiful, real spring weather for Easter. It got up to 80 degrees here, and it was wonderful. I was so exhausted from singing five services in four days that after church we went out to eat. then collapsed watching television. After a couple hours, we realized it was nice out, and went out to the patio to enjoy it! I guess we got so used to winter weather, we forgot.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a kind comment - I read and appreciate each one!
