a bird's life

Even though it's not officially spring (six days!) and we still have snow on
the ground, I know spring is coming. The snow is slowly melting and every
morning, I hear more little birdies chirping away. I still have yet to spy a
robin though. Every year when I see my first robin, I know for certain that spring
is coming. I keep scanning the bare tree branches along my drives and walks
and no luck for me. Several people in my area have said they've seen robins,
so I know they're out there.

I love decorating with birds and nests, especially come springtime.

Do you use birds and nests in your spring decorating?
Happy weekend!

  1. Melanie, I love all of your birds. The Robins are here in NW Washington and the flowers and trees are starting to bloom. In a couple of weeks everything will be so pretty. Enjoy your week-end.

  2. You have quite a bird collection and I loved getting a glimpse of your book titles. I have a lot of little bird statuettes and they used to be everywhere. Maybe I should dust them off. And you collect milk glass? I love it. My sister, Leslie, used to collect it.

I have my front door open (the storm window is down just a bit) and Milo is loving looking out and smelling the fresh air!

    Have a great weekend!

    1. I only have that small milk glass collection - have a few bowls, too. Not looking for anymore though. Wasn't it nice to air out the house a bit? I did the same thing.

  4. The robins pass through here on their way north and I started seeing them in February. That's a good sign that Spring is coming. Hang in there. They're all on their way. Our trees are all getting leaves and azaleas are starting to bloom. Soon you'll be out and about and we'll all be stuck inside soaking up the A/C.

  9. I love them all, Melanie. They look very sweet and colorful around your house. I have just a few bird things but I enjoy making little stuffed or embroidered birds to give as gifts (I made some clay ones this year for teachers' Christmas gifts too). I hope you're having a good weekend. :)

  11. I love your birds and nests. Here in NC we see Robins most of the year unless there is snow on the ground. But I grew up in Michigan and I always remember looking for Robins in the spring!

Yes, I do have nests an birds in my spring décor, Loved seeing all of the books!

    1. You got more snow? Sorry to hear that. I think in our extended weather forecast, that's there's still a chance for a wintry mix for us.

  19. I used to always put out birds and nests for my spring decorating, but I don't bother with seasonal decorating anymore. The only who sees would be hubs, and he sure doesn't care! I especially like the white bird cage you have. Very cute! I have a pothos plant in a black birdcage, and my son Jason was very puzzled by it. "Why is that plant in a cage mom?" It sure made me chuckle! I just remembered that I have another bird cage planter in my bedroom, only that one is white and on a stand. With a name like Robin, I've always had an affinity for birds.
