Well, tomorrow is the big day. I'm having a family party before Tim leaves
for school. He officially moves out a week from today. I'm not ready for that.
But yet I am. My emotions go back and forth. When I was making plans
for this party, I also realized that no one in the family even had a
get-together the entire summer like we usually do - so another reason to have
a party. AND it's my birthday! So many reasons to celebrate. This was me and
Tim last year on my birthday - my big five-oh. We went on a Lake Michigan dinner
cruise and were dancing to Donna Summer's, "Last Dance". This picture cracks
me up every time I see it. Tim's doing his "sprinkler" moves.
I have cleaned and cooked all day. Just finished unloading the dishwasher for
the second time today and glazed the strawberry yogurt cake. And so I'm finally
going to relax with some reading material and hopefully sleep well tonight.
I hope your weekend is filled with something fun, too!
Happy Birthday Melanie . . . I hope you enjoy the family gathering party tomorrow . . . and your birthday?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lynne! :-)
DeleteMelanie,
ReplyDeleteI hope you have the happiest of birthdays, filled with love and laughter, surrounded by all who love and cherish you! I LOVE the pic of you and Tim dancing up a storm - PRICELESS!! My sister is having similar feelings to yours, as her oldest is leaving for university in three weeks! Hope you get a good night's sleep; you're going to need your energy on that dance floor!!
Poppy
Thank you for the happy birthday wishes! No dancing for me tonight, though you never know...I did just make a big pitcher of sangria. :-)
DeleteHave a wondeful party...and Happy Birthday. Love that picture of you and your son.

ReplyDeleteHappy, happy birthday to you!!
ReplyDeleteJudy
Thanks, Judy!
DeleteHappy birthday, Melanie! I hope you have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI did, Jennifer - thank you!
DeleteHappy Birthday! Sounds as if your family get-together will be lots of fun. Here's an unsolicited tip for adjusting to an empty nest: stay so busy you don't have time to dwell on the empty house. It gets easier but you never really stop missing them. -- Jan
ReplyDeleteI have plenty of things to keep me busy, so I'm sure that will help. Thank you, Jan!
DeleteHappy birthday! Hope you have had a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI did indeed have a good day - thanks, Susan.
DeleteHi Mel, I just love that photo of you and Tim...Love that Mom and son dancing...it usually happens in the kitchen at my house;-).
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite photos of us, Penny! Brian happened to snap it at just the right moment. He wasn't dancing because he was sea sick (we were on a boat), lol. No one dances with me in the kitchen - I do it by myself!
DeleteI hope you have a great celebration, Melanie! I'm sure all of your hard work and anticipation will pay off. Love the picture!!!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
I think I get too crazy with having everything perfectly clean before I have company...but we did have a good time - thanks!
DeleteHappy Belated Birthday!!!!! I hope that you had a blast! :o)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alex!
