just keep tweaking

You all know how I can't leave anything alone.
I'm the Tweaker Extraordinaire.
I'm also a night owl and sometimes instead of reading or writing email,
I get restless and start rearranging things. Last night - around midnight -
I decided to take all the red and white items out of my china cabinet.
I then took my rooster and hen collection off the top of the fridge
and moved that into the china cabinet.

The top of the fridge wasn't exempt from my restlessness ~
it got my collection of small pitchers.

One of the little tweaks I did today was putting this wooden piece
with a bird carving on the wall - love 3M strips! I found this beauty at
Savers awhile back. Does anyone know what it is? Or maybe it's a piece of
handmade art? The bottom is like half a bowl.

I think it ties in nicely with the overall look in this part of the living room.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend ~ the weather is finally in the 60's here!

  2. Hi Melanie - I love your tweaking! Ahhh, your weather must be like ours here in New England - we're finally in the 60's as well! And like you, I'm also a night owl (hence writing this at 1 a.m.!)
Thanks so much for your kind words regarding my art and our sweet Mr. J!!! Have a lovely weekend!

  3. I liked your "tweaking" . . . I think the hens, chicks, Roos will enjoy their new home . . . might have to take a nap today to recover from night time tweaking . . .

    1. I rarely take a nap, Lynne...even though I go to bed late, I sleep in a bit, too. I am very blessed at this time of my life where I'm not working outside the home, so no getting up at 6 a.m. anymore for me!

  4. I love the roosters & hens all gathered together! Don't know how you have the energy to move things around at that time of night! I'm fast asleep by then!

    1. I dunno, Manuela...I sometimes get this burst of energy or restlessness late at night! Guess that's why I'm a "night owl". Have never been a morning person!

  5. Hi Melanie,

Why are roosters and chickens and hens so loved by so many? What is it about these gals that we just have to have them, many of them, the more, the merrier, in our homes? Really, there are other farm animals just as cute, but these birds can't be beaten! Love them in the china cabinet!

    1. I have a bird fixation, Poppy! I love roosters, hens, chicks, birds, and owls. Have no idea why I'm so smitten with these creatures...funny thing is, I'm a cat lover and that's the "real" creatures that I have! :-)

  6. Cold and rainy here. When my kids were young and asleep, I use to do the same thing. Living alone, I can do it anytime. I love the polka dotted hen. And that little wooden thing on the wall? Might be cute with acorns or small pine cones in the fall...

    1. The polka dotted hen I found at Home Goods on clearance! Love the idea of pine cones in the wooden bowl during the fall.

  7. You know I'm not a night owl but I do like to tweak just out of the clear blue sky. I like the pitchers on the fridge, you have a great collection. I'm wondering if the bird carving half bowl is a bird feeder. You could hang it on your house outside and fill it with seed. Or leave it there and maybe add potpourri. It's cute.

    Happy Weekend!

    XO,
    Jane

    1. Ooh, Jane, that would be so cute as a bird feeder! You know what?? I'm heading outside right now and attaching it to my neighbor's fence that borders our property. Since it's a new fence, I'll use the 3M strips and not nails - believe me, I wouldn't want to suffer this woman's wrath! lol

  8. Your tweaking looks great. I was fast asleep at midnight though. I am most productive in the morning.

    1. Even though I say I'm not a morning person, once I do have a cup of coffee and a shower, then I have a great burst of energy. I just can't get up in the wee hours. ;-)

  9. I'm a night owl too, but I'd never start rearranging the house, it would drive Brian nuts! He'd have to get up and see what I was doing. I always tell him he is hyper-aware, he has to know everything going on around him. LOL I rarely move things around at home, but I do move my plants.

    1. My Brian has no idea that I'm tweaking or rearranging - he is sound asleep and doesn't hear a thing!

  11. I'm a tweaker too, and I've always wondered where I get that from, because my Mom has never really changed a thing in her house in all the years she's lived there! Love your chicken collection, and especially your living room. I would like to use some suitcases like yours for an end table, but our living room is just too tiny!

    1. Thanks, Carol. My living room is tiny, too! These suitcases have been in different places - I play with them all the time. I know...what a surprise. ;-)

  12. All of your rearranging looks great! I, too, work late into the night. That's when I do my best work!
