a little bit of christmas decorating

I don't put up a Christmas tree anymore, but I do like a few Christmas touches around the house.

Here's the living room buffet ...

This vintage green bowl has always been one of my favorites. It belonged to my grandma. I think it looks really pretty with the miniature ornaments in it.

These elegant votive candlesticks are from Partylite, but I got them at Goodwill a couple of years ago. I sometimes like to use them to hold something unexpected instead of votives. I found these miniature presents at The Dollar Store.

A shelf in my kitchen...

Little candy canes grace a vintage sugar bowl...

And a pretty basket to hold Christmas cards from loved ones...

HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL IN THE NEW YEAR!

  2. Everything is very pretty! I decorate much like you do...little touches of Christmas here and there! My favorite thing is the little presents in the votive holders!

  3. I stop in to visit and am rewarded by seeing my little friend Zippo on your header. :-) I love your decorations. I just posted an entry that this is going to be our last year with my large Victorian tree. Your house looks festive with all these little touches with gives me hope I will not be disappointed next year. I especially love your grandmother's bowl of miniature ornaments.

  4. You have sweet touches of Christmas, but I love, love, love the bowl of ornaments! I also like the idea of putting something besides candles in the votive holders. Now I have to shop! :o)

  5. I'm torn with my favorites being the little presents in the votives and the little miniature ornaments in the green glass bowl (I have many small pieces of this green type glass that I use for candles. The thing about the votives, you can put little things in there all season - little tiny eggs at Easter, little hearts at Valentine's Day and so on....

  6. That's one element I've totally forgotten this year: candy canes! I've found it isn't necessary to put up a tree. I actually like just decorating all over the house.
