two more days

My arthroscopic knee surgery is in two days. March 1st. I wish I could push a fast-forward button to March 2nd. My anxiety has been really bad today and I have a headache. I've tried everything: talking to friends, praying, yoga, telling myself positive thoughts. But those of you who also have anxiety know how well that goes (said sarcastically). It's like another entity takes over. *sigh*

In my heart, I know things will go well and that I'll be fine. I've had surgery before (two of them, as a matter of fact.) It's more fear of the unknown.

If you are inclined to pray, please do so for me, OK? I'll also take any good thoughts sent my way. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I truly appreciate it. I will write a post-surgery post as soon as I can!

(Wish I could be as peaceful and calm as Monkey!)

  1. I am sending good calming thoughts your way and praying for everything to go perfectly with your knee surgery and for your knee to heal quickly and as good as new.

I am needing total knee replacements in both knees, but I am terrified of it. I know exactly what you mean about the anxiety. I will only get one knee done at a time, but the doctors want me to lose a bunch of weight first. That is easier said than done.

I'll be watching for your post-surgery post.

  2. I will definitely keep you in my prayers, Melanie. The anticipation of surgery has always been the worst part of it for me. I hope the next two days go swiftly for you.

  4. I knew your knee surgery was soon, so yes sending good thoughts, hugs and saying prayers. I hate the anticipation of surgery or any dental procedures so I get your anxiety. Hang in there!

  5. I'm thinking of you and hoping everything goes well. My husband's arthroscopic knee surgery is on Friday, actually, so we're getting everything ready over here too. Hang in there, it will be okay!

  6. I am very inclined to pray for you, Melanie, and will do it pronto! I do remember the anxiety before surgeries, nothing really helps a lot except getting it over. Will you be doing therapy afterwards?

  7. I suffer from anxiety, too, Melanie, so I know just how you feel. I'm sure your surgery will go smoothly and you'll be good as new! Sending good thoughts your way tomorrow and we'll wait to hear from you when you're ready. Take care.

  11. Hi Melanie, it is normal to get the jitters before an operation, so we know you are normal! My mother was so happy after successful arthroscopic knee surgery because she could play tennis again. She made all of us watch the "movie." I will remember you in my prayers tonight and remember, the doctor has probably done this hundreds, if not thousands of times. Good luck and I hope your knee is as good as new when this is over.
Just in time for good weather activities...

  17. I know, I've already told you that all will be well. But I know that anxiety can tell a different tale. Please check in on Facebook just as soon as you can! Honestly Melanie, my arthroscopic knee surgery surprised me on just how easy it actually was. You'll be feeling yourself in no time, I promise.

  19. I hope by now your surgery is over and wishing it went well for you. I for one can relate the the devil anxiety. It seems the older I get the worse it gets and my anxiety is at its lowest when I am home. But one cannot hide out so I venture out...I hope your recover is quick and you are back to normal soon.
