This weather is C-R-A-Z-Y.
March 19th - technically still winter - in the Chicago 'burbs
and the trees and perennials are blooming!
We've had six straight days so far of temps in the low 80's.
Normal high is the mid-40's.
Hubby has been working hard outside on raking and cleaning up all the yucky winter
stuff (lots of dead leaves and sticks) out of the gardens and the lawn
while I've been putting little touches of spring inside...
I picked up this green glass bottle at TJ Maxx this weekend
for only $4.99. I can picture pussy willows sticking out
of it...ooh, will have to try and find some of those.

I'm not big on traditional Easter decorations, but I did incorporate
a few things in the middle of the kitchen table.
The ceramic blue and yellow egg in the upper right was a
recent find in a resale shop.
I recently bought some little succulents and repotted them in
pretty little containers. This table is in the guest room/office ~
the room that used to be Phil's bedroom.

Our trees are not budding like yours...how could that be?! The flowers you brought in are so pretty. I have some daffs blooming but that's all. The faux pussy willow at Michael's and such is very real looking. You might want to get some of that for your pretty bottles! :)

Oh my gosh ~ spring has sprung! Our trees have not quite got those buds on them, but they're getting there. Our tulips are popping and my crocuses have come and gone ~ I love it ;-)
ReplyDeleteEven we aren't in the 80's here in desert country. Just seems so strange for your temps to be so warm this time of year. Enjoy and have a great week. Tammy
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I so enjoy your pictures - your decorating style just makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteit is warm here too, with lots of rain yesterday and a little more today. It feels really.
We are having much the same kind of winter here in Minnesota...I don't ever remember a winter like it! Your home is looking ready for spring! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for your nice comments about my entryway additions!
ReplyDeleteWe are having the same crazy weather you are! It's totally nuts this year! I love your little brown bird figurine perched on top of the books.
ReplyDeleteLooks like spring is started in your area too!
ReplyDeleteLove your spring touches inside especially your new green vase. I think it would look lovely with pussywillows or especially some yellow forsythia in it!
Same here too Melanie. In fact, yesterday we had record high temperatures. My daffodils are opening up their pretty yellow dresses to say hello.
ReplyDeleteLove that green glass! What a super find.

ReplyDeleteI need to have you come and redecorate my house! I love your house!
