I've been on the lookout for sturdy, solid wood chairs for my kitchen table for a long time. I've had my eye on a set on overstock, but they're not within our budget right now. Last week when I was shopping at Goodwill, my eyes zoomed right in on these red wooden chairs. The quality isn't exactly what I was looking for, but for $4.99 each, I decided to take my chance on two of them. I figured if they didn't look good at the kitchen table, I could use them outside on my little front porch. They were just so darn cute (RED!), I couldn't pass them up.
I have the perfect spot to store the chair when it's not needed at the table (since it's only me and the husband at home now) ~ and the color is perfect in my kitchen.
So here's my mish-mash of a kitchen table and chairs for now. The two tall-backed chairs are from our old mid-century modern teak dining set. They have to do since they're all we have (besides a couple of rickety chairs that I don't trust) at the moment. I'm thinking about at least painting them white in the meantime - and I know I desperately need to change the fabric on the seats. A trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics is definitely on the agenda.
Here's wishing you all a happy and blessed Passover and Easter weekend.
Love your little red chairs. Great find. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteCute little chairs. What a good deal, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the pop of red in your kitchen, Melanie! Great find!

Your home looks lovely, Melanie. I just discovered that the food blog site Yumly has lots of Passover recipes. I shared on my Facebook page, if you would care to check out the recipes and beautiful pictures of the dishes prepared from the recipes. I think I might try some of these in the future. They look delicious. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMelanie, definitely NOT a "mish-mash" as you said - more a really great eclectic mix! I love those chairs and they are perfect with your existing chairs - mix and match is always more fun than four exactly the same. A pop of red in any room is always gives a lift, and here the red in your art also picks up the chair color. Adding the books and vase of blooms is using a chair as a display piece and that's always fun too! Love this room.

The red chairs are adorable! I love old furniture like that. I think you could leave the other chairs unpainted if you wanted, it would look good either way. I'm on the lookout for a new kitchen table set, to replace the hand-me-down one I have now. It's not very good but when we got it, it was a gigantic upgrade from what we already had! So I really can't complain. It gives me perspective, ha. Hope you're having a good weekend and happy Easter. :)
ReplyDeleteOh Melanie, you had me at red! ;) What a great price, too...amazing score!
ReplyDeleteI love the red chair and the pop it gives!
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I love the red chairs! Super cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie, The red chairs look great with the other pair. There shape is similar and I like mix-matched chairs. I like the look of reality in a setting. You will have fun picking out fabric and I bet you will find one that has red, blue and yellow in the color scheme if you want that. The price point makes it a no-brainer...if you find that these aren't sturdy enough, they will be charming on the porch. ~Ginene
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! xx
ReplyDeleteThey add the perfect pop of color to your area. And what a price!!! Perfect, you can't do any better then that can you?
ReplyDeleteI love the dropdown table that you have next to the cupboard in your photo! Oh it's gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful Easter, Melanie!

Love the chairs. They look fine at the kitchen table, but I adore the shot of the one chair against the wall with a stack of books and a jar of flowers on it. It looks so happy. :)
ReplyDeleteYour little red chairs definitely can! They are the perfect pop of brilliant colour in your softly hued pastel blue and white kitchen, Melanie. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteHope your Easter Sunday is beautiful.
