I was picking up some groceries at Meijer (grocery chain here in northern IL) the other
day and walked past their home goods section. Bright yellow markdown tags
and orange clearance tags caught my eye, so I decided to see what they had.
Who knew they had all kinds of cute stuff, such as these chalkboard label canisters
with pretty aqua tops?
I'm totally crushing on these owl bookends, but holding out. Maybe if they mark
them down a little more?
I've seen similar vases on the Anthropology web site - for a lot more money.
Pretty yellow pitcher and bowl.
Great assortment of cool clocks.
Owls, pigs, and birds!
Even demijohn bottles.
And then there's this mirror. I've had my eye on this mirror for over a year. The colors
are perfect for my living room and I could picture it on my fireplace wall. But the
$110 price tag always kept me from buying it. Now it's marked down to $70. Still
too much money for my budget. Wheeelll...the other day I was at a friend's house
and I was telling her about this mirror. She said she had a 15% off coupon (through
a Meijer credit card - which I don't have), plus she gets a 10% discount through her
daughter who works at Meijer. She asked me if I wanted her to pick up this mirror for
me, using the discounts...hello! So now the mirror is sitting at her house and I have
to go pick it up tonight.
I'm just hoping that the mirror is the right size. It might actually be too small.
Time shall tell!
Such cute things. Love the canister set. Our Meijer's closed a couple years ago. So did our Michaels. Just saw today that Hobby Lobby was going to take their space. They already have a huge space just down the way........seems strange.
ReplyDeleteI got some awesome mason drink jars today with chalkboard labels. Yeah.
Love that mirror. Yes, that was a must to have.
I love the canister set too, though I lack space on my counter tops as it is, so I certainly don't need these! That's really sad that both your Meijer and Michaels closed. We still have both stores here - as well as Hobby Lobby.
DeleteYou really got a bargain. No matter where you use it...it's going to look great. I love it.

Well, you'll see from the post I just did today (the 14th), that we're not sure where we're going to use that mirror!
DeleteMy local grocery store chain doesn't have such cute stuff.
ReplyDeleteI love the mirror and can't wait to see what you do with it.
I think you need to make a trip to Chicago and come help me decorate. ;-)
DeleteWhat a great bargain! The mirror is really different and distinctive. I've never shopped in Meijer but I did order something from the online once, a booster seat for my son to use in the car. They had the best price of anyone selling them online at the time.
ReplyDeleteMeijer has really good prices on groceries and even their household items. It's a more pleasant store to shop in than Wal-Mart, too.
DeleteI hope that your new mirror is now with you and that you are loving it!! xx
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed with me...but not hung up yet!
DeleteWe are getting a Meijer store in a nearby town. I didn't realize that they sold things like these. Some very nice items.

I think you will love Meijer! They carry all sorts of things - curtains, towels, pots and pans, dishes, they have a hardware section, an office supply section, electronics, toys, health and beauty aids, books and magazines, and they have a nice garden center, too.
DeleteWow! What cute stuff! Is it like a Walmart? I love the color of the canisters with the cute knobs.
ReplyDeleteYes and no. :-) Walmart is bigger and has more variety. This is mainly a grocery store, but with a few "extras".
DeleteLots of fun goodies...and sounds like you got a great deal on the mirror!
ReplyDeleteI think I did, too! Thanks, Linda.
DeleteI've been a huge Meijer fan since my college days, because our college was near Grand Rapids Michigan, the home of Meijer. They were everywhere! Well, I still like them very much. The only problem is, their clearance prices are not all that low! Cool mirror, I'm glad you finally got it.
ReplyDeleteI like Meijer, too - it's where I do most of my grocery shopping.
