I'm still working on redecorating the living room...
Previously, I had the 4-square IKEA cube on this wall
but after looking at ladder bookshelves online, decided that
one of these would be the better option.
I ordered this ladder bookshelf online from Home Decorators.
I moved the IKEA cube downstairs.
I think it looks much better in this space.
See? Sometimes you just need to "play" with different
furniture placement to find the perfect fit.
So, back to the living room.
It was hard picking out artwork for the wall space
between the bookshelves and vertical pictures over the fireplace.
While shopping in Lake Geneva, WI, I found this
artisan made HOME sign at Refined Rustic and fell in love with it.
It's made from old barn wood.
The turquoise candle holder below the HOME sign is just a "cheap"
find from Hobby Lobby.
I think the HOME sign would've looked better right over
the bookcase, but if I told my husband that (he hates when there's nail holes
all over the place, especially after a new paint job!), he'd kill me, lol.
And then I'd be back to the same dilemma - what to put in the wall space
between the bookshelves and the fireplace wall.
Looks great. I think the new one makes a nice statement.
ReplyDeleteHi Melanie;
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job you have done! Love the ladder bookcase, it looks perfect there! You definitely have talent for decorating. Love and Hugs, Nana
I do like those ladder bookshelves, but haven't found a place to use there here yet. Our Brians sound alike, mine can't stand nail holes either. To him, art placement is always permanent, and it makes me crazy. He can't just pound a nail, he has to insert a plug and screw that seems so long lasting for me. LOL
ReplyDeleteEverything looks nice! I especially like the pop of blue on that wicker chair. Lovely! We have concrete walls and the only way to hang stuff is to use plastic hooks that have three little concrete nails that actually go into these walls pretty easily ... or to drill and since I hate to ask hubby to do anything, I mostly hang things up with the hooks -- and I hang things all over the place. Find a blank space, hang something up. That's what I do. :) Have a great week. Tammy
ReplyDeleteLol...all husbands are the same about nail holes. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the new shelf and it saves having to hang some floating shelves as you were thinking. I agree the cube fits in perfectly downstairs. I also agree that the home sign (too cute) would look great above the shelves but wait until you have something else. Or what about a piece of ornate iron or metal scrolling for above the shelves? By then, Brian might forget he made those holes and agree to another??? :-)
I had to force Jos to hang my hooks for a quilt wall in my living room too but I am so glad we did. It is now just right while I hated that wall for two years.
Hugs from Holland ~
Heidi
Your new arrangement looks great. I actually like your Home sign where you put it.
