the baby robins are here!

On May 20th, there were a total of four blue robin's eggs in the nest.
I knew it wouldn't be much longer...less than two weeks until hatching, from what I'd read.

When Mama Robin didn't budge when I went out onto the porch this morning,
I just knew that the babies were here.

When Mama flew away, I was able to lift down the hanging planter and get a shot
of the miracle of newborn robins in the nest.

The little guy on the left scared me. I found him on the porch, underneath the
planter. I thought he was dead until I detected the slight movement of his sides
going in and out. I gently picked him up and put him back in the nest and slipped
quietly back inside the house, hoping that Mama Robin would hurry and come back
to the nest and keep the babies warm, possibly reviving this near-death baby.

I checked on the babies later in the day, and I'm happy to report that all four were
alive and well and had their beaks sticking up in the air, waiting for food!

In other news, the retreat I went to over the weekend was awesome. Not restful,
but plenty of food for the spirit. This morning when I turned on my laptop, I was
greeted with what's called The Blue Screen of Death. In other words, my computer
won't boot up - I just get a blank, blue screen. I'm running in Safe Mode for now.
A friend of mine will hopefully be working on my computer tomorrow and even
more hopeful that she can fix it.
