creating an inspiration board

I bought a bulletin board at Hobby Lobby awhile ago and never hung it up
until now, as I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it.
I knew I wanted to make an inspiration board, but what to put on it?
Basically, an inspiration board is a collage of anything that "speaks" to you
or inspires you. It's anything you want it to be. You can use photos, fabric,
postcards, paint chips, lists, ticket stubs, a flower, drawings, recipes.
Whatever attracts you and draws you in.

In the end, I went through some photos, cards, and other little sentimental
mementos and decided to just start pinning them up, not really stopping to think
about it. Just go with it and see what evolves. There's pictures of my sons, one
of me and my hubby, a beautiful card from my husband, little mementos from
friends, a particular poem I like, and in the middle right ~ two photos of myself:
one when I was eight years old and a flower girl at my aunt's wedding, and the other
of my young (just turned 22) self as a bride.

I have this inspiration board hanging in my office (what used to be Phil's room)
which still doesn't have blinds or curtains! Have I ever mentioned we are very
pokey about completing room makeover projects?!

Have a beautiful and inspiring weekend!

    2. Just lost my comment so if it reappears, I'm probably repeating myself. I love your board, the shape is really neat. I remember having a bulletin board (that's what we called them, remember?) as a teen and we used them for the same sort of thing. I like the family pictures and I recognize your chili cook off badge! It's nice that you have your own office and space to put it. And no one is pokier than me!

    1. Thank you, Debra - I like the shape of the frame, too - not as boring as a plain bulletin board!

  10. Love the shape of it. I keep things I want to remember on a cork board made of wine corks. I don't drink wine but my MIL does. :)

    1. Now that sounds really cool, Elaine - you should post a picture of it! I drink wine, so I do save wine corks. I just have them in a cylindrical vase; haven't done anything with them.

  11. Melanie, it turned out beautifully! You were right to add those things that speak to you. Things that inspire you and/or bring a smile to your face. Lovely!

Thanks so much for joining in this week, my friend.

  13. Right now my inspiration board is some chicken wire I hung to cover an ugly spot above my washing machine. I am using clothes pins to hang things on it.

I have to check out your Pinterest inspiration board.
