taking a break

 Hello friends ~

I'm taking a little break from blogging. Nothing is wrong, no worries. I'm just a little
overwhelmed with projects on my to-do list and it's like all of a sudden, it's already
August (almost) and soon summer will be over. How did that happen?

Dare I say, I've been as busy as a bee? (Groan.)

While the weather is nice, I need to take some furniture pieces outside and paint them.
I also need to sand and paint our front door - a big project. Can't get to that if I'm sitting
inside on a computer. Which I don't want to be doing in this beautiful weather anyway.

And, since summer is so fleeting, I also want to take some quiet time out in my yard
more often. I've been saying all summer that one morning when I don't have to be anywhere,
I'm going to take my morning coffee out on the patio and simply savor the quietness.

I'll miss you all - but I'll be back shortly!

  1. Hi Melanie,

Good for you! Two weeks ago, I thought to myself, 'What am I doing floating around cyberspace when I have the most gorgeous views and lovely garden right outside my door?!!' SO glad I came to my senses before the summer sped right by me! I now switch off the laptop around 11 am, take my fresh fruit smoothie to the pool, where I immediately jump in and swim for one hour, and then reward myself with the serenity and poetic genius of Billy Collins. DO IT! The great, big blogosphere will still be here, when you get back, but the summer will have faded into fall.

Enjoy the quiet and beauty of your garden.

    1. Swimming, a smoothie, and Billy Collins all sound like a perfect way to spend a summer day to me!

  4. Enjoy it. Take it easy. Put your feet up and relax. It's too hot here to do things like that.

  8. Enjoy the outdoors...the summer is going by so quickly. I've been trying to do the same because we've actually had tolerable temperatures lately! It's been wonderful to sit on the porch in the mornings in August!

    1. We are finally just now getting hot weather! That I don't mind, but unfortunately, it's been way too rainy - so no time spent outdoors.

  9. Enjoy! I took 5 weeks off and enjoyed it. Of course, I also have Instagram which is a whole lot quicker and easier than blogging so was still posting while I traveled. It's a true shame to waste good weather indoors. I'm already back to my walking here, early morning of course. And will take my coffee outside in the morning and enjoy the quiet, too. :) Best wishes, Tammy

  10. Your flowers look just gorgeous, Melanie! I know just how you feel. I'm taking a break, too. Our summers are too darn short to be inside looking at a computer screen!! Enjoy the rest of the summer and we'll see you in a few weeks!

  12. Hopefully you are enjoying your last half of the summer. This year really has sped by in record time. My mother tells me that is because we are getting older. :-) I blog very little lately but do not really know why. It is not because we have nothing to share as we are busy with projects but I just don't get to it. I hope you are getting all your projects done and savouring them as you do along with some of those quiet moments!

    Hugs from Holland,
    Heidi
